The Tigerbear core founders have over 75 years of experience in the fashion industry. Do you know what that experience has taught us? It taught us that it’s about damn time we do what we love. A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER
Welcome to the Tigerbear den! I am Jannie Denney, and I have been a footwear designer for 25 years. Tigerbear is a love letter to the things in life that have saved me: my children, art, and mental health. The name Tigerbear was what we called my oldest son when he was born but has come to represent the attitudes of all of my children. I hope that Tigerbear will resonate with people as more than a brand but will become synonymous with the word change. I want to change how people spend their money, time, and energy. What we buy and how we shop impacts our self-esteem and the planet. I invite you to be creative, help others and shop with intention. People are important, joy is important, but money isn’t everything. Technology is changing quickly and I am working to keep up with eco trends and fashion trends. The trend "fast fashion" is something we can work to put behind us and live in a world of “slow fashion." Let’s all slow down and think before we buy, appreciate the abundance and love around us, and take care of ourselves. Honor your weird! The slogan, “Fight like a tiger, hug like a bear” has served me well in life and I hope it can do the same for you. Now go out there and be your best Tigerbear.
SUSTAINABILITY
As a mother of 3, I worry what state the planet will be for my children as they grow and have their own families. Working in the fashion industry for 25 years, I have been a part of a lot of waste and negative effects. Tigerbear is a way to make use of waste products and show that doing good is a business model that can be successful. I want to leave a legacy my children can be proud of and happy about it. For my cubs and yours, lets make this world a better place.
THE ARTS
As an artist, I have used color to paint a better world than what I saw and experienced. In my darkest times, I had to paint a better brigher place so I could believe it was possible. It was an invaluable resource to me in those times and it should be available to everyone. Art makes the world more beautiful and full of possibilities. If my prints and collages bring a smile to your face or makeyou proud to go out and be the badass you are, then I have succeeded.
MENTAL HEALTH
As a person who experienced a dark and traumatic childhood, I know how important mental health and self work can be. The world can be a dark place and I know what I wished I had when I was in that place and that is what I hope to bring to the world. You know what influences me? The stories and lives of people. I want to hear your stories, I want to know what makes you excited and what drives you.
